So, pretty big news. We are going to be parents!!!

Due date is May 15th. We are currently 14 weeks and into the second trimester.

We have decided to NOT find out the gender our little one. It's the last great SURPRISE out there!

We are over the moon! Please keep us in your prayers.

I decided to see if I had a green thumb this spring and planted a square box garden! Erik did an awesome job building the boxes and I had fun filling them with seeds.

So here is the funny thing. Last year our sweet neighbors Bill and Betty gave us two small tomato seedlings after the "big" tomato scare. We planted them in pots and one did very well but the other did not. We eventually moved the pots around to the front of the house for fall mums.

All spring after we planted the garden I had been fussing over the vegetables. Watering, pruning, watching, waiting and waiting.

Erik came in one afternoon while doing yard work and asked me to come outside. I had no clue what it was about. He lead me over to the area where we had last year's tomato garden and SURPRISE. We had at least 10 baby tomato plants!!! They were growing so much better than my little garden I had been fussing over!

Heaven's to Betsy!

Spring Vegetable Garden

Erik and I have decided to plant a vegetable garden this year. After some extensive research and discussions with other friends that have gardens we have decided on a "square foot" garden. Basically you just build a box out of wood, fill in with a mix of manure/top soil/compost and then add your seeds. Similar to the below image.

We are planning ( key word here planning ) on planting the following: corn, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, berries, squash, and watermelon. We are planning on posting video and photos of our "adventure"!

Fat Tuesday

Today is Fat Tuesday.  My goal is to refine my blogging skills until Easter and then "hit" the ground running.

My friend Jessica has designed a beautiful blog page.  ;)   Maybe she can give me some tips.

Till then,

Dear Friends,

Today I passed the LEED exam!  I am thrilled to be back in business.  Let me share with you a little about LEED and what exactly it means.  LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.  Basically, GO GREEN!

Contrary to popular belief, going green is not that hard to do.  It's simple things like, RE-USE non structural products, add an aerator to your faucet, RE-cycle paper and cans.  Install lighting occupancy sensors for rooms that are not regularly used.

It's not that hard.

It might not be "easy" to go green but it is worth it.
